Ryan MacLean has spent his entire working life in the oilfield service industry working for companies such as Brandt/Varco, PTI Group, Certified Rentals and Flint Energy. Ryan started with The Crossing Company in 2001 and has taken on increasing responsibilities over the past 11 years becoming the President in 2007.
Ryan oversees four distinct trenchless construction divisions with operations throughout North America, and is a direct report to 8 executives. He has led and participated in five acquisitions, and has been actively involved in the construction of three conventional drilling rigs and the development of an industry changing Exit Side Safety Unit. Ryan remains entrenched in the operations of the company participating in frequent field inspections and site visits and is active member of the Safety Committee. Ryan’s strong business acumen and even keeled leadership style is the cornerstone of The Crossing Company group of companies.
Ryan MacLean holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta.
Mr. Osbak entered the Horizontal Directional Drilling industry in 1996 after 12 years in the heavy construction and manufacturing industry. He worked throughout North America as a directional driller for an international wire line and HDD directional services company. In 1997 he joined The Crossing Company as a directional driller, forming part of the company's internal directional team. Since then, he has spearheaded the development of the services provided by The Crossing Company's Technical Services Group. Manley is responsible for overseeing the company's estimating (tendering), project management and navigation functions which all lie within the Technical Services Group.
He was responsible for planning and executing the first HDD intersect in Canada and has developed and trained a team of highly regarded specialists who together, have executed over 35 intersect crossings: an HDD leading achievement. He has published several technical papers relating to geomagnetic navigation, intersect technology, risk, and advanced operations. Manley represents The Crossing Company on the Industrial Advisory Committee of the Centre of Excellence for Trenchless Technology at the University of Alberta. He dedicates a significant portion of his personal time working with undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students in their research projects. Manley is a frequent lecturer at the University of Alberta on the topic of underground construction.
Paul joined The Crossing Company in 2003 as Vice President, Finance. His responsibilities include operational and financial strategy, assessment of organic and acquisition expansion opportunities, governance and risk management. He has been instrumental in the expansion initiatives of the company, executing 5 acquisitions in both Canada and the United States.
Previously, Paul worked with various local and international chartered accounting firms before assuming the role of Vice President, Finance with Fountain Tire in 1987, one of the 10 largest tire dealers in North America. From 1987 to 2003, Paul was integrally involved in Corporate expansion which saw the fountain tire store network grow from 35 to 149 stores.
Paul holds a bachelor of commerce degree from the University of Alberta and is a Chartered Accountant. Paul has contributed to his profession as a sessional presenter for the institute of Chartered Accountants of Alberta CFO Leadership Program from 2003 to 2008 and a Chairman of the ICAA members in industry working group from 2008 to 2013. Paul has also contributed to the community as a member of the audit and finance committee of Covenant Health since 2011, and as past president and director of the Derrick Golf and Winter Club.
Ryan Bowhay is Vice President, Corporate Development responsible for the business development, marketing and communications activities of all four divisions. As a member of the Executive Team, he also participates in corporate strategic planning and decision-making, including the evaluation of merger and acquisition opportunities.
Ryan is a true western Canadian. He grew up in Stony Plain, Alberta and completed his education at the Alberta School of Business (U of A). With strong roots and ingrained Alberta values, the oilfield service industry was a natural fit. After spending three years selling construction equipment, Ryan joined The Crossing Company in a sales role and moved to Calgary to be closer to clients and expand business opportunities. Ryan was promoted to Business Development Manager in 2005 and to VP, Corporate Development in 2008.
Since 2003, Ryan has collaborated with colleagues and clients in developing solutions to complex pipeline construction challenges, including resource management, identifying and understanding available technologies, and assessing project risks. Ryan acts strategically, is operationally focused, and has a strong commitment to safety and people.
Ryan sits on the board of a private Environmental Services Company, is Chairman of its Director Selection Committee and a member of its Compensation Committee. Ryan is also an active member of the Institute of Corporate Directors as well as the CEPA Foundation sitting on the Quality Enhancement Committee.
